When it comes to coffee subscriptions, the best ones are usually those that surprise you with something new every delivery or those that let you pick from a large range of options what you get. The ultimate service would be one that lets you do both.
Crema.co is a coffee subscription service that works to provide customers with something truly unique. Whether you want to experience something that Crema suggests based on your preferences or pick for yourself from their many tasty options, this subscription is entirely customizable.

Crema Co Coffee: Company History/Overview
Crema.co was initially built by Tyler Tate but was bought by Michael Klassen in 2017. Michael comes from a family line that has long worked in the coffee world and even owned another coffee company called Blue Tiger.
With time, Michael grew Crema.co into a company that works with small independent roasters, finding some of the best coffees out there. Crema.co is a way for those roasters to build their brands while also focusing on sourcing and roasting.
The company also prides itself on being a smaller independent company that allows customers to know them personally, creating a solid base for great customer service. This is something I got to witness firsthand, which I’ll talk about more later on.
Crema.co is also the only website that has part of it dedicated just to coffee for Workplaces. This is a creation that allows offices to come together and add coffee preferences with several different Brew Queues, which can be picked based on the most requests or on an automated basis. Moreover, the picks are always fresh and new!

My experience with Crema.co turned out to be a really great one. The company sent me one of their picks at first and then offered me site credit so that I could pick whatever coffee I wanted, add it to my Brew Queue, and have it sent to me on my desired frequency. This way, I got to really experience how it would be to actually be subscribed to Crema.co.
Creation Coffee
The first bag I received was their pick, which came from Creation Coffee. Ethiopia Worka Sakaro is an anaerobic natural processed coffee that comes from the region Yirgacheffe and producer Mijane Woresa. It’s grown at an elevation of 2,200, roasted in Midland, MI, and is said to have a more modern flavor profile.

The anaerobic natural process uses a brix meter to measure mucilage content and select the ripest cherries possible. Those cherries are then soaked to separate floaters from the denser coffees that sink. These selected cherries go to raised beds, where excess water is removed.

After that, they are put into special plastic bags for 16 hours before the fermentation process begins, gas is removed from the bags, fermentation takes place for 3-7 days, and the cherries are moved to raised beds again for drying.

Creation Coffee responsibly sources only high-quality and sustainable coffee that they then carefully roast to perfection. This coffee in particular is one that has tasting notes of berries, pineapple, and guava, leaving a brew that has a bright layered complexity and a juicy sweet finish.

Upon my own brewing, I noticed that the aroma was very sweet, citrusy, and inviting. The cup tasted light, bright, sweet, and only slightly acidic. The fruity flavors really mingled well together to create a satisfying sip.
Junto Coffee
The next bag was one of the coffees that I added to my own Brew Queue, Junto Coffee. The Hada Molecha Lot 1 comes from Ethiopia, in the region of Yirgacheffe. It’s an intensely complex and floral coffee that’s washed processed and features unique tasting notes of jasmine, cherry blossom, and juniper berries.

Junto is a minority- and POC-owned company that strives to provide expertly sourced coffees and works to make sure that producers are more than fairly compensated.

The coffee company has made it its mission to build long-lasting relationships with regions that are underrepresented, giving all producers a better chance at selling their coffees. Junto recommends giving the Hada Molecha Lot 1 a good time to age so that the floral notes can become more pronounced.

I found the aroma of this coffee to be one of the most interesting ones that I’ve ever experienced. It was full of sweet floral goodness, a perfect smell to accompany the unique combination of tasting notes.

Overall, it was a nice subtle, sweet, and delicious blend of floral notes. It wasn’t too much or too little, but rather a well-balanced and tasty combination.
Ritual Coffee
Another one of my Brew Queue picks, Ritual Coffee’s Los Anonos comes from West Valley, Costa Rica. It’s a light-medium roast single-origin that’s made for drip coffee brewing, has a complex and sweet body, and features a vibrant acidity.

Ritual Coffee is a roaster in San Francisco that works to bring out the best of all coffees that they source, roast, and deliver. They have many direct trade relationships with worldwide coffee producers and through one with West Valley Mill, Helsar de Zarcero, comes the Los Anonos pick.

This coffee comes from producers Marvin Rodriguez, his brother Felipe, and their partner Ricardo Perez. іTogether, they practice sustainable growing practices. Los Anonos is grown at an elevation of around 1,750 masl.

It’s carefully hand-harvested, honey processed, mechanically washed with an aqua pulper, and dried on covered raised beds. Tasting notes for this coffee include champagne gummies, fuji apples, and green tea.

Upon brewing up a cup, I noted the aroma to be very sweet and inviting with a rather interesting smell. The taste truly showcased a good combination of unique flavors, giving it a sweet and delicious flavor that’s all-around amazing.
Square One Coffee
The last coffee I received from Crema.co was actually one of the first ones that I added to my Brew Queue, but something went wrong with the delivery process. After I contacted the company via the support email available on their website, everything was handled super easily and they resent a fresh bag of the same coffee. They also kept in contact with me to ensure that I received the coffee.

This Square One Coffee, Costa Rica Las Lajas – Black Diamond Natural, is a light roast single-origin coffee that’s naturally processed and grown at an elevation of 1,500 masl. It comes from the Finca los Pinitos farm in the region of Cirri Sur, Naranjo, West Valley.

The black diamond natural process has an intentional curing process, with a drying period of 15-22 days. It’s similar to other natural processes, though the drying step is slower than most. This gives the coffee a slow dehydration so that the temperature doesn’t rise too quickly.

The finished product of the black diamond process produces a coffee that’s sweeter and brighter. Tasting notes for the Costa Rica Las Lajas include strawberry, grape candy, and hibiscus.

Once I brewed up a cup, I was met with a beautiful aroma that was sweet, fruity, and floral. It tasted very bright and sweet with a touch of acidity. The flavor notes really come together to create a delicious, floral, fruity, and sweet candy brew.
I also tried this bean using a pour-over method and the flavors came through even more, especially the floral note. Overall, it’s sweet, decadent, and one of my favorite brews.
